Songwriting & Music Production

Music Production is a great option for singers and songwriters who would like to record fully produced songs for CD Releases, Sync Licensing Opportunities or Publishing Deals.

Before Badass Sound began offering its services to the public, we operated exclusively as a Production Music Studio writing and recording music for inclusion in various global production music libraries. We continue to maintain contracts with some of the biggest music publishers in the world, and write, record and update our catalogs with fresh new music on a regular basis.

We provide Full Music Production services including World Class Session Musicians, Orchestral Arrangements, Songwriting Services and complete Mixing & Mastering to produce polished amazing sounding masters. Ultimately this is a very affordable way to get your songs performed by world class musicians and produce major label quality music.

If you don't see a Production Package that works for you, we can offer session musicians individually based on your needs with our Track Add Or Replace service.

Often times simple changes such as replacing a programmed drum loop with live drums, replacing a midi guitar track with a real guitar, or adding a background instrument such as a violin can make all the difference in a song.

Badass Sound can offer you top notch session musicians to add or replace various instrumental tracks to help professionally polish your song. We can add rhythm guitar, lead guitar, orchestral instrumentation, keyboards, drums, etc. We work with a variety of world class professional studio musicians who can lend their talents to help you achieve the best sound for your project.

Track Add Or Replace Rates:

All separate Instrument tracks with the exception of Live Drums are $99 per instrument. Additional tracks of the same instrument are just $25. Live drum tracks are $125 including a stereo drum mix. Additionally, we can send the individual unmixed drum tracks for an extra $35 or the individual drum tracks with processing for $75.

Add a backing Orchestral Arrangement to any package, or have us create something for a previously completed song for just $199. Orchestral Arrangements can include as many as 8 tracks of instrumentation. Our Orchestral Instruments are sample (keyboard) based using real performances, and are extremely authentic. These same instruments are used by many of the world's biggest music arrangers and producers and can be heard in countless movies, television shows and commercial spots. Listen to the tracks on our Samples page and see for yourself how amazing our Orchestral Arrangements sound. Your Arrangement may include a string section, woodwinds, brass or a combination of all three. Let us know what you have in mind or give our producer free rein to create something mind blowing for you.

Orchestral Instruments available: Cello, Viola, Violin, Trombone, Double Bass, Tuba, Bassoon, Clarinet, Trumpet, Flute, Harp, etc.

*** This should go without saying, and we realize that most serious artists use click tracks these days, but we can only offer session musicians, the track add or replace service or an orchestral arrangement to your song if your tracks have been recorded with a click track. To attempt to replace or add tracks otherwise will produce extremely unprofessional results as there will be numerous timing issues with the instrumentation throughout the track . . and the whole point of adding and replacing tracks is to make your songs better right? ***

We have a lot of experience writing songs over the years and have written well over 100 songs for live performances, publishing, sync licensing, album projects, recording contracts, etc., so we have a pretty good idea how to develop songs that groove, flow properly, and are catchy and laced with hooks. If you only have a simple vocal melody or a partial idea for a song, like a great chorus section, and don't know where to go with it, just add our songwriting service for only $299 and we will work with you to turn your basic riff or vocal melody into a killer track. The best part of this whole process is you own 100% of the songs that we create together. Put a band together and play them live; Use them to go for a publishing deal; Send them out to Sync Licensing companies for use in Movies, Television, Commercials & Video games or even shop a record deal. It's all up to you.

We offer 4 main packages that make it easy to start the production process.

Start by checking out the 4 main packages we offer below and select the one that's right for you. Go to the Rates & Packages Page and click the appropriate PayPal button to complete the order. If you would like to add various extra services just use the appropriate PayPal buttons to add each service requested. We will automatically see that all the payments came from the same person. Be sure that we receive all of your contact info including your email address when you place the orders.

Once the order has been placed go to the uploads page and follow the simple instructions to send us your rough song idea. All we would need from you to start is a rough vocal recording with a basic rhythm guitar or keyboard melody or even just a rhythm guitar arrangement or vocal track to get the ball rolling.

Once we have previewed your rough track we will contact you to ask a few questions regarding the ideas you submitted and how you'd like your song to be produced. We will continue back and forth emails throughout the production process working together to create your song.

We'll start by recording a simple guitar scratch track of your song synced to a click track.

Once the basic arrangement has been approved we will complete a "scratch" version of the song by adding rough tracks of the other instrumental parts such as drums (modified loops will be used initially just to work out what the live drummer will play), bass guitar, rhythm guitar parts, keyboards, lead guitar parts, etc., getting approval from you after each part is finished. Keep in mind that these are only "scratch" tracks and won't sound nearly as good as the actual "real" tracks that will be recorded later. During this recording process you'll be able to review, request changes or approve each instrument before we to move on to the next one. Our producer will guide and help you through the entire production process as well as offer suggestions during the recording process to help make your song the best that it can be.

Once all of the instrumentation has been approved we will re-cut those tracks in the studio with top session musicians using our collection of high end drums, guitars, amps and keyboards to record world class instrumental tracks.

At this point, if you have requested an orchestral arrangement to be written for your song we will now develop it to blend in perfectly with the song's main instrumentation.

Once the instrumentation is finished being recorded it's time to record vocals. Now you have 2 options:

1. If you are going to sing the main vocal or both the main vocal and back-up vocals we will do a rough mix of the instrumentation for you to use to do your vocal tracks and send it to you, along with the tempo of the track so the studio you record at can sync everything up correctly. Any local recording studio can be used to do this or even your own home studio. When you're done recording all of your vocal tracks, simply upload your tracks to our Dropbox account where they will be added to the song. Please follow the same suggestions we offer on the Track Preparation page to ensure we have excellent quality vocal tracks to do our final mix with.

2. If we are providing vocalists for you, just let us know what style of vocalist you would like and whether you want a female or male vocalist to sing the main vocal. We will then book studio time with our vocalists, record the main vocal and back-up parts and get your approval for each part as they are completed.

Once everything has been recorded to your satisfaction your song will be mixed and mastered. You'll be able to download the final version of your song, review it and request changes if necessary.

What can I send you?
Anything you've got. A simple scratch track of your song will do. If you're adding our songwriting service to your production, you can send us a vocals-only sketch or even just your lyrics and a reference song.

What type of song can I submit?
We specialize in guitar driven genres such as Folk, Top 40 Pop, New Country, Blues, Hard Rock and Metal. Just provide a basic scratch track and tell us what style you are aiming for and we will develop a song together with your vision in mind.

***If you are looking to write and produce other styles such as Rap, R&B, Jazz, classical, or music that is predominantly piano based we feel that it isn't within our skill set and we wouldn't do justice to your music. We would much rather turn a project down than produce mediocre music and risk an unhappy client just to line our pockets. In this situation we would suggest that your project would be better served working with another studio specializing in these styles.***

100% risk free?
YES! We let you hear each step of the production and get your approval before moving to the next step.
If you wish to terminate the process for any reason, we will refund your money in full for any step that you didn't approve.

Who owns the rights for the tracks?
You do! We record our tracks on a work-for-hire basis. This means that by the end of the process, you own all of the rights to the recording.

What about modifications and changes?
You're the boss. We will send you an MP3 preview after each instrument has been recorded for your approval. You get one free modification for each instrument. Additional modifications are only $25 each.
If an additional take of an instrument is required, a fee of $75 will be charged. An additional take is required when you ask for a different tempo, have new references, or wish to re-record the track from scratch.

What forms of payment do you accept?
We accept all major credit cards through PayPal as well as certified money orders sent by Snail Mail.

How do I upload my scratch track?
Check out our Uploads page for instructions on how to send your files.
